In the most-difficulty category when it comes to earning in-state residency, prepare for a mandatory gap-year either prior to freshman year or after.  Overall Illinois is in the most-difficulty category relative to other states, but there are some exceptions most notably at University of Indiana-Urbana-Champaign.

Illinois Reciprocity Agreements:

Illinois is a member state of the Midwest Student Exchange Program which is a limited regional reciprocity agreement among select Midwestern States. Favorable college tuition rates in nearby states are sometimes possible through reciprocity although many restrictions apply.
